In Wyoming, at least ten gray wolves have already been killed since the Bush administration removed these animals from the endangered species list on March 28th. Our only chance to stop the slaughter of this majestic species is in court.
Earthjustice is preparing an aggressive legal response to the killings and to the premature removal of the wolves from the endangered species list.

Here’s where things stand…
The day the federal “delisting” decision became official, Earthjustice served the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service with a mandatory notice of intent to sue. When that notice expires on April 28th, our attorneys will be free to hit the Service with a suit to challenge the delisting and bring a halt to the killing. And not a moment too soon.
With a population of only 1,500 in the northern Rockies, there are still not enough wolves to ensure the future survival of an animal that once numbered in the hundreds of thousands. Without federal protections, nearly 80% of the region’s wolves could be killed — a huge setback to years of hard work restoring these iconic creatures to their natural habitat.
Our legal effort is the very last line of defense for the wolf. Please donate today.
